Chief Executive Officer, Americas Markets
John oversees JLL’s Brokerage, Project & Development Services and Property Management businesses in the Americas, and he leads the integration of all activities in the region.
John’s career in commercial real estate spans almost three decades. After earning an MBA in finance from the University of Texas at Austin, he joined the Staubach Company in 1990. There, he became a top Dallas broker, before rising to several leadership positions, including President and Chief Operating Officer.
John came to JLL during the acquisition of Staubach in 2008. In the decade-plus since, he has held numerous senior leadership roles at JLL.
John became CEO of Markets for the U.S. in 2014, adding Canada in 2019 and Latin America in 2020. Based in Dallas, Texas, he leads the Brokerage, Project and Development Services and Property Management businesses throughout the Americas, acting as the integration lead for all activities in the region. With his leadership team, John sets the vision and strategy for the Americas Markets, with a focus on innovating to serve our clients.
John is deeply involved in Dallas civic life. In 2009, the Mayor of Dallas appointed him to the Dallas Housing Authority’s board, where he served until July 2014. He currently serves on the Dallas Citizens Council.
His wife of more than 35 years, Jennifer Staubach Gates, is serving her fourth term as Dallas City Council’s District 13 representative. They have two daughters and three grandsons.
In his spare time, John enjoys being with his family, traveling, fishing and hunting. In addition to his many civic commitments, he is a member of the Executive Council for the Real Estate Finance and Investment Center at the University of Texas at Austin and is very active in the Dallas Catholic community.
