This research provides an overview of the plans and actions of 10 major LATAM cities (Bogota, Buenos Aires, Guadalajara, Medellin, Mexico City, Monterrey, San Jose CR , Santiago, Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro) in regard to climate targets and policy, especially concerning buildings. It positions these cities across a global landscape and is an extension of JLL’s Decarbonizing Cities and Real Estate global research, released in May 2022, which gives an in-depth overview of the instruments available to and most often used by leading cities globally to transition to net zero and decarbonize their buildings sectors.
This paper complements that research, focusing on Latin America. We encourage you to leverage the global report to learn more about leading policies around the world.
